The Shoji screen first originated in the 14th Century Japan. They were initially devised as a method of partitioning rooms in the cavernous mansions of the Japanese nobility, but their elegance and simplicity soon caught on. Over time they have evolved to become an integral element of the nature, uncluttered interior of the traditional Japanese home.

The
classical Shoji are lightweight sliding screens made from a wooden frame featuring a lattice pattern and covered with rice paper which allows light to gently filter through while maintaining privacy.

These
classical screens are beautiful yet delicate and therefore not suited for every environment so in addition to these we also offer a more resilient contemporary alternative with the use of frosted acrylics coverings. The function of Shoji screens are by no means limited to room divisions. Common usage of Shoji include wardrobe and cabinet doors, window shutters and free standing decorative screens.
